Dead 06 plate TD5 90
A mate has just been trailered (literally) to his local dealer due to an apparent fueling / fuel starvation problem. Symptoms are sharp drop off in power, chug to a stop, leave for five or so minutes and then it will restart again. RAC man bi-passed the filter (which wasn't pretty by all accounts) and the problem persisted; he had a new fuel pump two months ago......

Has anyone got any idea's?

Open Filler neck, if you hear a "GULP" the breather is obstructed and the pump does not manage it to pump the fuel. WANTED:

SII or SIII in max 1.5k

When you say gulp, where are you hearing this, ear into the tank?

could be pump? if a cheap one was fitted, Censored in the tank etc.

or warn through fuel pipes, snapped fitting from the top of tank / pump to filter.

if the recovery man butchered the fuel lines then he'll need a new set....not cheap or easy to fit....or cheap to fit!

anyway tell him theres a monkey here for it here Rolling with laughter

Injector seals are a very common problem...

£30 and an hour or two labour at the most.

Thanks TC for asking about...

Always, always, always get geniune fuel pumps - the britpart (and others) have failure rates hitting 90%+...also airflow sensor was also shot! Injector seals were replaced a few months back (they're good for 50k miles) but as the song goes...On the road again!! Smile Previous

Don't listen to a word he says, I had to draw him a map from the drivers seat to the engine. The plate of metal between him and the engine only confused matters.

Go and say hello on the introduction thread Mr Moore sir Very Happy
