Heater fan control lever assembly
The heater control lever assembly in my second Wolf is all a bit broken. It seems there is a plastic trim panel to the outer side (facing into the car - passenger) and the whole thing is attached with screws into the dash assembly.

Mine is all wobbly as it has numerous cracks, so there is nothing anchoring the slider control, making it impossible to switch the fans on.

My question is - is the plastic panel replaceable or do I need to replace the entire part (STC4848)?

So i ordered the new part and it arrived today, yet it doesn't come with the plastic trim side panel after all that. Brilliant!

I can't find a separate part number for it. 2016 D4 HSE

Do you mean the trim cover for the temperature blend lever (which is also the end of the dash)? Possibly one of these?

Isn't the fan speed lever cover part of the instrument binnacle and surround? (At work, so haven't got my vehicle to check against!) 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green

Doesn't the fan lever just stick out of a slot / gap between 1 and 10 below?

I'll take a photo of it, it may help. I believe the fan control screws onto the side of part No 1 above, and has a plastic trim over it to make it look pretty, much like on the temp blend lever side. 2016 D4 HSE

I think the fan speed lever assembly is screwed into the inside of Part no. 1. So the outside face that you're looking at is actually part of the instrument binnacle surround. Could be wrong.

Also you might as well consider replacing it with the steel version from Raptor (as in blog link above). Saves it breaking up again. 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green

There is no plastic cover on that side. What you are seeing is the part that Dorsetsmith has linked to in his first post.
This part commonly breaks up and a plastic replacement will fare no better in time. Raptor do a metal replacement which is much better.
Easy enough to replace just takes a bit of time to dismantle and reassemble.

After much scratching of head and looking online, it seems I need the large part 1 on the diagram, it has all the supports. Mine being ex MOD looks like half of it is missing, probably an in the field repair.

Raptor Engineering do a steel version and a how to video so I'm off to watch that and then order one.

Thanks for all your help. 2016 D4 HSE
