Anyone with a Puma Defender has had problems with the indicator stalk? Endless problems over here. Used to switch off by itself a couple of times during each left hand corner whilst steering in. Got fed up with it and in the end I believe the dealer swopped it for a new one.
Now, from time to time the bloody indicator stalk switches off steering into right hand corners. I'm almost at the point of trying to fix this problem myself as it's starting to get time consuming taking the car to the dealer and back... |

I had a problem with it not staying on for indicating right, I slightly loosened the two small screws for the plastic bottom trim and that fixed it

We'll have to see if it stays ok, but after loosening 4 screws it worked perfectly today. Let's hope it wasn't coincidence.

Turned out to be not so great after all. Have to hope I find some time coming month to have a careful look what's wrong with the stalk. Utterly irritating to have a faulty stalk that's acting up in crowded cities.

have you changed your steering wheel ? - if so check your boss is lined up ok, otherwise like Max says, pop the steering wheel off and have a look at the cancelling pin

Haven't changed the steering wheel but haven't looked at the cancelling pin either. I'll have a look at it asap to prevent myself teaching my toddler words he shouldn't say...

I found mine doing this on my TD5, and it turned out to be the cancel ring on the steering wheel being in the wrong place
it was fine, but it's started to get worse again - so it might need glued in place next time |

Remove the steering wheel. The cancelling ring is blue coloured and should be secured with a metal ring with two rubber-covered clamps. My guess : the metal ring is not fitted.

Haven't found the time to work on it, yet. Hopefully coming weekend.
Thanks for all the input so far and I'll let you know how things turn out. |
