Need to replace turbo where to purchase ?
Have been inspecting an prepping car for forthcoming overland trip to pyrenees.

Noticed significant play in turbo spindle and figure wise to replace before trip,

Was thinking of recon unit ? But who would you purchase from?

How much setting up is required re boost pressure after fitting?

Many thanks in advance Thumbs Up

I,m sure some of the site sponsers can supply you with a new/recon unit, but failing that you could try Midland Turbo,s we use them at work and they will send a courier to pick up your unit check it out for you and phone before undertaking any repair work. They usually repair and despatch in a couple of days.

Check out their website for contact details. 2005 Td5 90 XS

The waste gate actuator will be set by the manufacturer you will not need to adjust it. I would recommend replacing the engine oil and filter at the same time. a number of turbo companies insist on this for warranty reasons.

Hi

We have both VGT hybrid turbos and standard recon turbos in stock. Not adjustments are needed after fitting as all is done on the turbo flow bench when made. Please do remember you can't reliably check for baring wear by "lift" on the shaft when its not under oil pressure. The baring only works as a baring when its pressurised with oil that does remove and amount of shaft lift compared to when not pressurised.

Std here. http://bellautoservices.co.uk/store/td5-de...bmenuid=57

Regards Pete.

Hi

I cant give a real scientific answerwithout stripping it fully, however generally if the barings are really warn as you turn the compressor wheelbyhand to check lift is the comp wheel toughes the comp housing it has problems.

Also the comp wheel blade tips should be sharp and not eaten away from debrit in the air or melted from overspeeding or hard work.

To be honest there are no symptoms,

I have just been looking over the car to try to ensure that nothing lets me down on my trip to the pyrenees. I looked at the turbo as the car has covered over 200,000 miles. I found a bit of play in the spindle and assumed that it should not be there. Thanks to Pete I now realise that this does not mean I have a problem Very Happy

I'm going to have a closer loo at the weekend to see if the play is enough to cause any catching.

It's probably me just being over cautious Rolling Eyes

Thanks again to all who have offered advice Thumbs Up
