Yes they are the ones pictured. See below.
Click image to enlarge And Click image to enlarge Looking at them in more detail I can see how they are closed up and would benefit from some Dremel action. They are a crappy design though. i dont want to cut them off because the +ve terminal has an incorporated fuse holder. Can I leave the battery disconnected for long periods without affecting any electronics? |

Luck or otherwise I don't know but I disconnected just the earth while did the dremmel business which didn't take too long as it a soft metal and all was fine. I think even if it was an hour or more it wouldn't be a problem.
Good luck. |

I'm leaving mine off overnight as Ive painted the battery tray!!
I replaced the battery on an E class Merc I once owned and phoned the main dealer to ask if I could leave it off while I took it to match up a new one - 'no problem' said the dealer. When I eventually got a new battery the error lights lit up all over the dash. I had to pay £100 to the same dealer to reprogram my car!! When I complained he said that he thought I meant for the few minutes it takes to swop over. I'm assuming there isnt all that to worry about on my poverty spec Puma? |

Good question - maybe one of these might solve the issue?

Morning, I had mine disconnected all day when I was adding my twin battery solution so you should be fine.

Just to wrap this up.
Caterham I did as you and sliced a new groove with my Dremel. I also noticed that the battery post had a ridge made by the clamp that stopped the clamp sitting fully down. I filed off the ridge and tapped the clamp down. It went on deeper and now is as tight as a crab's ass at 50 fathoms. Also no problems with the battery being off for 24 hours. Another job ticked off the list. Thanks again to all contributors. |
