1983 Series 3, only covered 24,000mi and we are the third owner. Not immaculate by any means but mostly rust free, very honest and straight. Runs beautifully. No mods other than overdrive.
Surprisingly lovely to drive really! Bags of character and very smooth. ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. Last edited by Cheshire110 on 5th Jan 2016 1:50am. Edited 1 time in total |

Is it a Petrol David? I assume so, as you say it's very smooth(!) As a nice two and a quarter petrol can be a really sweet civilised engine.
What I'm really curious to know, is how does your overdrive sound? My S3 has relatively low kms from new (although higher than yours) yet my Fairey overdrive still sings to me when I engage it, like an opera singing mermaid.,. |

Limey yes it's the 2.25 petrol, a beautiful engine indeed.
Yes the Fairey overdrive sings a bit, but it's only a short distance car for us so no problem really. It's perfectly pleasant at 40-50mph, not much benefit to going any faster! One thing I need to check on is whether We should be running it with fuel additive in or whether it has had an unleaded head fitted. Not the best photos but got the wheels blasted and powder coated in the correct "limestone"
Really sets the car off nicely I think! ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

I was watching the 'twin' of your car on eBay recently:

I'm about to take the plunge and have a Canadian Roverdrive (Although I think it's now called Roamerdrive) fitted to mine (diesel motor, therefore I really need the extra few mph), as I'm sick of it sounding like a scene from a Horror Movie when I'm driving at 55mph. Which is the only thing taking the pleasure out of driving mine -in fact, right now, when my two lads see me reach down for the Fairey lever they both beg me not to use it! I'll share how it all works out if anybodies interested? |
