i did fill up for a long run which is when i usually get my best mpg and found i got 28 and a bit mpg which is what i get around town, did do a bit of low range off roading on that tank but only a couple of hours, did not do what it says but there still the cheapest around so i will still be using it.

Always use shell or total but never bother checking mpg but the total seems to last longer..

I don't really see differences in quality fuels, the cheap fuels are giving less mpg specially with my D3G4 V8.
I think that in Germany the fuel quality is also not that good as my mpg goes really down as soon as I cross the border between The Netherlands and Germany. ![]() 1984 90 2.5 na Diesel - RR V8 (1994-2001) 1997 Camel Trophy Discovery 300TDI (2001-2009) 2005 G4 Discovery III 4.4 V8 (2008-2018) It's gone but it still hurts. 2003 90 Td5 (2009-now) |

There is a difference in fuels - certainly supermarket to main brands (shell/bp) but where as 300 is a bad tank - with the so called fuel saver this seems to be around the standard in the 90 not the exception.
Im sad so when tracking money I can easily track MPG, mileage etc and do - a quick history check show 28-29 is the average, the last few with fuel saver have been 25 this is just the 90 similar story with the other 3 ![]() |

I've used Shell since Big Black was new (except once when I filled up with Asda - bleurgh - and when I was abroad) and averaged around 30 to the gallon. There has been a slight drop since the Fuel Save fuel was introduced though, but only by about 1mpg.
Will keep checking though... I'm quite sad when it comes to my MPG ![]() |

Well now that Shell is getting rid of the Brents (Alpha, Bravo, Charlie & Delta) they've got to find some way to cover the decommissioining costs!! ![]() ![]() |

Just because you drive a land rover shouldnt mean you accept poor fuel economy - certainly in the current times. Second...MPG is a good indicator of issues with the car third...i like to get what i pay for, if i pay for 1l better - i dont expect worse! Mike |
