Thanks for that Timcat, I was looking at those joints and thinking I would seal them before fitting👍

I have FCX side lockers fitted - two on n/s one on o/s. They are made from light steel and have been on the defender for about 5 years.
After trying to open them today when they have been closed for several months, they were difficult to open and I had to use a lever to open them as the door hinges have corroded from road salt and the rust has expanded bending the hinges out of alignment. So trying to close them I had to hammer the hinges to try and realign them which has worked to a degree although a temporary solution. Looking at alternatives, the stainless steels ones available are smaller than mine so are no good plus very expensive. Has anyone had this problem - if so did you drill the rivets out of the hinge and clean and repaint or what? Cheers |
