Click image to enlarge When I got my 1999 csw, there was this switch beside the front passenger seat. Secured by the compartment box. I took out the seat and followed the wire. It runs into the battery compartment. Does anyone have an idea what this is? Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Last edited by kweese on 25th May 2015 11:54am. Edited 1 time in total |

Useless as far as I can see as whatever it was plugged into is now missing!
Looks like it may possibly have been some sort of control for a simple Webasto Setup but if it was me I would follow the wire back and then remove it as it seems to be doing nothing. It doesn't look like a factory fitted item. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter |

It looks like a Telemechanique 'style' switch. If so the contacts NO/NC are readliy available and the rotary switch is also interchangable with numerous different types illuminated/latched/momentary etc. Is it fused and if so what is the rating? It may give an idea what it may have been used for? If it is not protected remove it as it is of no use as suggested.

Definitely not stock. If it's not wired into anything, just remove it.
I had the same with my TD5 when I got it, there were 2 sets of wires and relays to brackets on the bumper for lights that weren't there anymore. It's just extra clutter that isn't needed. All these trucks coming over here are 15+ years old and may have had several previous owners, there is usually some remnants of them, often in the electrical.
