I think the slave cylinder is worth a shout as its within the bell housing unlike on older ones where you could get to it without splitting the engine and gearbox.
I could be wrong though! Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter ![]() |

if your going to do clutch as well as out put shaft , then its gearbox out ( transfer first then main box )
if you took out engine to do clutch then you would need to fit engine back before removing transfer box as there would be nothing to hold main box in , as main box is either held by engine or transfer box , there are no mounts on the main box itself as s/dog says always do the slave at same time as clutch ( yes its inside bellhousing ) |

thank you
where does the clutch bleed on the slave still? may be doing the shaft before, just wanted to add it above before it was commented on. Cheers James 110 2010 XS Utility 130 2011 M57 bespoke Camper 90 2010 Hardtop 90 M57 1988 Hardtop |

yes on the slave cyl where the clutch pipe joins , at about 10-11 oclock looking from rear of gearbox , flat sided plastic type thing ( hard to turn if pressure on it )

It is also worth replacing the flow restrictor in the clutch hydraulic line (attached to the slave cylinder where the line exits the bellhousing). It is cheap, but if it is becoming blocked (which happens) it greatly exacerbates snatchy take up and driveline clonks and reduces drivability.

I believe that it is UUG500040 and costs about £25 to £30.
