I am looking at this http://www.ringautomotive.co.uk/uk/product...-/RSCDC30# as an alternative to fitting a split charging system, as I want to be able to swap it between vehicles. Has anyone got any experience of such devices at all? Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond.....

think you mean series 1 has a dynamo and yes voltage from that could be a problem
the small split charge (think they 20amp) units from smartcom have a adjuster for voltage cut in , the smartcom is what they fit for caravan battery charging ( don't know if they are suitable or not for dynamo ) think I would go down the route of 2X split chargers ,2x small Anderson plugs , and battery in a box ( box should be vented to outside of vehicle ) or 1x split charger built in to leisure battery box then just plug into each vehicle via small Anderson plug for charging whats leisure battery for ? TROUBLE WITH CHARGING ANY BATTERY INSIDE THE VEHICLE THE BATTERY SHOULD BY IN A PROPER BATTERY BOX AND BE VENTED OUTSIDE |

Thanks for the info - my Series One does have an alternator as its fitted with a 200Tdi (not for the purists!) so volts aren't a problem.
The leisure battery is for powering an ARB fridge when parked up on a camp site (I go on long trips abroad with both my Defender and the series one). I have previously asked about some kind of 'portable' split charging system, and that might well work with Anderson connectors. I never though of that. Sounds like a solution and a good idea - thanks (cheaper too) How easy would it be to do if I bought a kit such as this - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261610607268?_tr...EBIDX%3AIT Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond..... |

ah ok if alternator then all should be ok
ive just fitted one of the durite split charger, all works ok personally I would put split charger outside of the portable battery box , just in case ( you don't want any sparks in with a charging battery in case its gassing at all ) |
