80w/90? Seems to be called Gear oil/Diff oil...or is it definitely 75w/90?

I have had the same discussions with Opie Oils
I will be using Fuchs Titan Syn 5 in my diffs and transfer box And Castrol Syntrans Multivehicle 75w-90 in the gearbox From Opie "The Syn 5 isn't always great as a gear oil as it can be too slippery and not slow the synchros enough, it's best to use that for the diffs and transfer box and then the Syntrans Multivehicle for the gearbox" I changed the gearbox oil in my Hilux - the hand book recommended either a 80w-90 or 75w-90. The original fill was 80w-90, so this is what i initially refilled the box with, cold winter down to -4 degrees for 6 weeks and the box was terrible, so I dropped the oil again and put 75w-90 and the box gear chang is a sweet as can be (still same 2 years later) no matter what the temp |
