Have a look at my back door........
I bought a Puma a couple of weeks ago, and I adore it. Well when I say I adore it, I adore the front of it and as I work back I like it less, because of this...........

Namely the rear door.I am trying to find out who made it (thought it was an Ivor Williams jobbie initially), so I can price it up properly when I sell it!!

Great piece of kit if you have dogs or are lifting the odd bail of hay in and out of the back but when you have children not so good.

Any idea who made it? And does anyone want it?!

Dave

(P.S. I should like to point out that I don't put the children in there but I do put their bags and stuff in!)

Well, that is very "unique"!

Have you checked with IW to see if they made it? It looks well made and decently galvanised, so it may be an IW special. If not then it looks to be a good aftermarket part. I certainly don't recall seeing anything like that before! Is there a dealer sticker on the IW canopy, since the supplying dealer would quite likely know where the rear door assembly came from?

It looks as though the rest of the vehicle is unaltered, so a standard IW flap and normal LR tailgate would fit straight on. ** Edit - I have just checked my IW canopy and the hinges on yours are not in the stantard position - they are further apart. This means that unless the hinges can be repositioned, a standard flap won't fit. Is there any evidence that the hinges have been moved before? If not, it stringly suggests that it was an IW special. If they have been moved, then at least it shoudl be possible to move them back if you want to. **

Be aware if you want to buy a new IW flap that they are surprisingly expensive (something like £300 now IIRC).

As to the value of what you have, I think the problem is that it is so specialised it will have a very limited market. I bet buying one new would be startling, but valuing an s/h might be very difficult. If I was selling then (after offering it on this forum first) I'd probably look to Ebay, since you're talking to such a large marketplace.

I have a top flap from my old 110 which I am going to keep and have a new tailgate sprayed up to match. That's the plan anyway.

I have been on the website and had a look through the various products there but I couldn't find it.

Perhaps I should email a picture to them but just be careful how I title it....

I tried to sell a similar I.Williams 90 rear canopy as new and couldn't get rid of it.
It got in the way in the end so scrapped it.

They don't seem to be of trend at the mo.

IW is generally very helpful indeed but sometimes not the quickest.

They recently gave me - yes gave, free of charge - some spare parts for the jockey wheel of my LM146 trailer, which are not usually available as spares at all, several weeks after I asked them if they were available. The chap I spoke to remembered my enquiry when they found some scrap assemblies about to be binned. He remembered well enough to get back in touch, find out exactly what parts I needed, then strip them off the srappers and send them free. I call that very good customer care and after sales service! Thumbs Up

I would send them a photo and ask if they know the origin. You have nothing to lose by so doing.

Do you mean one with the unusal rear flap/door like v8bobber's, or a standard one?

Standard 90 canopies are quite commonplace and never fetch much 2md hand (I bought one for something like £45 intending to cut it down for my DC, but then was offered so much for it in PX for a new propoer DC canopy from my local IW dealer that I PX-ed it (I think they offered something liek £200 for it IIRC)!

Decent canopies for 110 DCs are far harder to find than those for a 90, and generally fetch good prices. I am really not sure whether the v8bobber's flap/door thingy is a benefit or a hindrance when selling, though!

Mine didn't have the solid door, but a mesh one.
Was probably like you said that 90 ones are very common.

I just thought it would sell easily when I bought the car to put the money towards the canvas top I replaced it with.

I was a bit shocked that it was surplus to requirements even here in South Wales Sheep
