Mobile centre on here will also do the plug in relay for led indicators .

I'm confident enough to believe what I've heard.
I went for the RDX LED lights, and I am pleased with those too. I have the indicators front and rear, just need the relay now too, but like you say at nearly £30 they aren't cheap. But you get what you pay for on the flip side. |

Well it will still work but just with resistors on the trailer. 
If it's ordinary incandescent lights on the trailer then no problems at all.  |

I have a Bateson Trailer and a Elddis Caravan both have ordinary incandescent bulbs fitted.
If the RDX flasher relay works then I will probably go for one, especially as I have heard that some LED relays can blow when a trailer is hooked up. |

Mine definitely works with no trailer and it definitely works with a trailer with filament bulbs.

The RDX relay can take up to 120w.
Two trailer indicators that are incandescent will be about 42w the pair (21w each) That doesn't include the LR's own indicators too of course but that isn't much wattage. |

I brought a flasher unit years ago that can take all led or all normal bulbs or mixed , has max load of 160w ,it's three pin so won't work the trailer light on dash at all so I fitted a buzzer for indicators which I prefer to be honest
I brought a Rdx adjustable flasher unit , but having led lights on my trailers it wouldnt work the dash light , (yes you can fit resisters but I think that defeats the object of having led lights in the first place ) but I removed it before it left my workshop as I found the flash rate looked a bit slow ,it was still within mot regulation speed , but I thought the flash rate looked a bit old fashioned like the old bi-metal flasher units , but that's me being fussy |

When I fitted my led indicators I didn't know about the simple plug in relay , so wired and soldered resistors to each corner only to find that the lamps were still flashing fast and the only way to sort it out was to also re-wire back in the original bulbs and holders . Aarrrrgh
 Now I have spaghetti wiring and a bulb rattling away inside each corner .
Only to be told after all that work " there's a relay to save you doing all that " |

Just snip it off and put female Econoseal connectors on the LR side and male Econoseals on the lights side.

True, but if like me I don't tow that often so it's worthwhile. I'm not a fan of resistors either but for that small compromise you retain full OE functionality for the LR. That IMO is worth it, much better than having the trailer light on all the time. Yes it flashes the once and off but IMO if an MOT spotted it for a start flashing constantly I think he'd think ah hah there seems something funny here.. After all it's self explanatory by being a trailer symbol and it's obvious that it shouldn't be on when not actually towing. I doubt there is any issues ensued by that but it could well be viewed with suspicion. Just a shame about the trailer functionality or it would be a near perfect device. |

mines not on ever , not first flash or when trailer on , that's why I fitted a buzzer which I have had tell me the trailer indicator had gone out and to be honest I don't think I would have noticed the light on the dash not flashing when trailer light out on a busy junction when you shouldn't really be looking at your dash
