temp gauge acts as rev counter?
hi guys. 1988 defender fitted with defender 200tdi engine and loom.

the temp gauge some times behaves itself and will sit in the middle happily for the entire journey, but more often then not it tends to increase as engine revs increase, and then decrease slowly when engine revs drop. its completely intermittent and makes me believe the engine is behaving itself and the fault is electrical.

any ideas of how to prove this and where to look?

It could be true reading but more likely you have a faulty battery or alternator. Any starting problems? www.td5.org

Check your earth cables from engine to chassis and battery to chassis.

A dodgy earth can have the effect of cause your temp gauge to rise.
