Anybody fitted a map reading light and if so which one. Looking at fitting 2 on the trims above the rear passenger doors for the kids to read when away on holiday.

Long arm Hella mounted on the side of the cubby box, fused +ve direct from battery. Would be easy to mount on the rear of box for rear seat use too [taking it as read that it's a CSW USW without bulkhead]. Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

Maybe a bit pricey being an LED one but I use one of these...
http://www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/hard-wired-map-light Used one last year to do the BAMA Salisbury Plain night navigation competition and it did the job nicely, being able to use it in red mode as well as white meant that I could read the map with it and still be able to see outside when I needed to and I suspect it also meant less reflected glare for the driver. The switch is perhaps a little fiddly but OK when you get used to it. Fitted the same one to Pam's 90 after the Salisbury plain event. Being an LED the current draw is tiny so no problem if it gets left on. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/ Last edited by davew on 3rd Feb 2014 1:37pm. Edited 1 time in total |
