Need to make lights Euro spec
Guys,

I'm off to Germany (Hohne) for two years this summer and I need to do some alterations:

Firstly LHD headlights - simple £50 fix

Secondly I need to look at either swapping the reversing light and fog around (EU regs mean reverse light on the right and fog on the left), or adding a reversing light and fog so that they are the same each side (NAS style)

Not sure what would be easier??

Glyn, what did you have to do for the BFG? (by the way if i don't see you this weekend we'll be taking over from you in Sep/Oct...bring on Op Certain Death Rolling Eyes )

Headlights I went for the Wipacs from Paddock spares, LR fitted an additional fog light on the L/H side of mine for export- don't need a second reverse light Smile

When I get back I will be off back to 35 so will be taking over from you too Smile

Not trying to hijack but where is 35 now? In my day (when at 28 in Bindon) they were at Hameln at Gordon?

Are you sure that is a legal requirement to have the rear fog light on one side and the reversing light on the other?

I never had problems with that when I imported my cars.
If you have a rear fog light you have to have a indicator on your dash when it is on. That's all I believe. A reversing light is not mandatory I believe.

Send an email to the German TUV and maybe you get the answer. Roel

Hi Roel,

Unfortunatly for us in the Army, we have to get our cars BFG'd (British Foces Germany) which is a test that combines the UK MOT with the German TUV (Highest standasds from both).

The rules state that you have to have a fog light on the off side side of the vehicle or both sides (with as you say the indication inside). If there is a reverse light it has to work (if you dn't have one it is no issue). Lights have to continental- none of the newer switchable units as they are classified as temporary use.

I agree there are far too many Royal Engiqueer types on here Razz Here we go Wink. Saing that 35 is one of the better units I have served with.....maybe because Paderborn is awesome Very Happy

My 1984 90 has done it's licenings check and is approved with a Fog light on the right side and the reversing light left.
My Camel and my D3 G4 were both LHD vehicles so they might have no problems at all, but my 90 is a RHD vehicle.
My first 90 was a real Dutch vehicle and had it's Reversing light on the right and the fog light on the left, Roel

Haha, Like it......what might upset you is if I have my heels together BUT not wear a belt around my combat jacket Shocked would I dare Whistle

I have enjoyed my time with 35, a great unit but 21 Regt/ 15 Fld Sp Sqn have changed my views on Engineer units forever! I would rather slam my balls in a warrior door than serve with this bunch of idiots again..... unfortunatly I have to push out another 6 months with them.

CO gave us a brief the other day about our deployment and his main concerns are:

If on Operations:
A. Sleeves will be either rolled up or all the way down.
B. Even if you only have a cm of water in your bowl you will have a shave.

I think I will have a load of AGAI67 on me by the time I get back.

What happened to the good old days of go out, do the job, come home safe, and then worry about looking smart.
