Battery question
My TD5 seemed to struggle to start the other day when cold. Got the battery checked at a local motor spares shop. The battery is labelled as a 650cca. When the battery test was done I noticed the + terminal was corroded (which might not help) but the CCA showed as 550cca, so I have lost 100cca's

So a combo of the corrosion & 100 lower cca's wont help.!

What is the correct spec battery for a 99' TD5 ? 1999 Defender TD5 110

Get as big a one as you can fit in the box. Numax are very good.

Alternately, go to Costco and get a Bosch S5 for 50 or so, with 5 year guarantee. There'll be a leaflet telling which you should have.

You want a genuine battery if possible. Thumbs Up This weather does take a bit more out of batteries to start, noticed a slight difference on mine even.

I have always found that a quick and simple method of comparing battery quality is the weight, the heavier the battery the more lead it has in it when comparing say a 110AH to another 110AH. There is little substitute for more lead, the more the better it will perform and the longer it will last. 2008 Defender 110 XS CSW

+1 for Bosch at Costco. I have used these for years, brilliant batteries for the money, plus the warranty. I think its 110AH, 800CCA but can check later if you need the exact spec.

cheers

I don't think so, I just buy as/when I needed them. Depending on the store, they may be in the tyre dept.

Cheers

Dampness usually causing an elecrolytic battery type effect between battery post terminal and terminal connection. Coat with a liberal dob of vaseline. Thumbs Up If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

That'll do nicely. It'll stop any moisture and/or air getting to it. Thumbs Up If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

battery terminal spray is very good .. I use it on the battery , any electrical connection I touch on defender gets a spray .. outside sockets , towing sockets (spray it on wire connections to socket and in plug ) ,all light connections, relays sockets etc

never seen any corrosion on electric joint after using it
