TD5 Running Lumpy
Hi All,

quick question.

drove to the shop today and engine running fine and smooth, come out the shop and engine is running lumpy mis fire like?

it pulls away but when it tries to get higher revs it feels like it splutters and has no go in it.

I have checked the red ecu plug and dry as a bone (had new loom last feb and AFM same time.

I have checked and it has oil

can't see/feel any delamination on the intercooler pipes

not over heating

no excessive smoke

no noticeable leaks form any where on engine

I'm now at a loss??

various threads I have read say could be turbo actuator? would this cause lumpy running?

if not what else could it be??

many thanks in advance 2008 110 2.4 XS Utility (Hagrid)

Suggest you do what I did....

Call rac, the nice man comes out and plugs in the machine...

If air flow sensor fault comes up, buy a Siemens maf sensor for £90, replace it (5 mins tops), problem solved.

Or if not sensor, then may be fuel filter, the rac man should tell you what's wrong and cheaper than taking it to land rover!

Could be injector seals try running through the purge procedure before starting see if that improves it. 2005 Td5 90 XS

It's worth checking the free movement of the turbo wastegate actuator (as OP mentioned). I've not suffered from this so have no personal experience but I seem to recall the symptoms are more likened a speed limiter ... might be wrong on that.

Other than the already mentioned things, MAF/Fuel Filter/Injectors, the only other thing that I can suggest may be worth doing is removing the MAP sensor (on inlet manifold) and giving that a clean up. They do get pretty gunked up, particularly if you still running with the EGR in situ. Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless.

ign on, quick stabs 5 on accelerator to start the airing process, it will tell you quickly if the pump runs or not.

If the MAF is fubar it will still run, but fuel consumption will be hi.

Have you checked the fuel pressure regulator, those have a habit of leaking too "Rafiki" 2007 110 STW - Rolling rebuild.
