Door lock/mechanism is very exposed to the weather on a Defender, brake/clutch/electrical cleaner for cleaning and silicon or white/lithium grease fer lubing. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.

Spray all the shiny bits you don't want to rust (locks, exposed bolt heads etc.) with ACF-50 - marvellous stuff! 1959 Series 2 Ragtop

The lock barrel on my 2011 seized completely, and made the central locking fail, according to the dealer. The car was stuck in the dealers for 2 1/2 weeks because they couldn't get a replacement. In the end they changed all the locks, because although they couldn't get an individual barrel, they could get a complete lock kit for all doors / ignition
So yes, it does happen |

I insert the metallic end of the key twice per year into a tube of Liqui Moly silicone grease and then put it into the drivers door and rear door locks and turn it a couple of times. Sofar, so good in its 5th winter But the lock you mention on the passenger side Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |
