You're proposing lowering the standard NATO hitch placement quite a bit. I take it you're getting a Sankey 3/4 ton trailer. With matched tyres won't it be riding a little low? One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

This subject of type approved towbars and modifications of much interest to me, have been doing research over the last few days. Confused

Law states that for all vehicles registered since 1998 any tow bar etc fitted must be type approved AND TESTED. specific to vehicle, and have manufacturers plate affixed providing various bits of test info.

This became bit of a worry as I have swapped new labeled tow bar from new puma onto old v8 110 and fitted nas type tow step bought 3-4 years ago onto new landie ( no label although I know it came from Paddocks and is supposed to be OEM. As mentioned by others on the forum gives better access to rear of vehicle and roof, also looks smart I think.
Much research to establish how I stand legally only to find in the small print that this law applies to M1 passenger registered vehicles and DOES NOT APPLY TO LIGHT COMMERCIAL registrations
My new 110 utility wagon is taxed light commercial so worry over ----I think!
Still making sure that I only use proprietory hitches etc to avoid possible insurance arguments in the event of an accident whilst towing.
Thought info. might be useful to others. Thumbs Up 1981 series 3 swb gone

Thanks for that info Smile.

Mine is also Light goods, and have ended up just bolting it to the cross member with a 1" sacer plate to clear the NAS bumper.

Try here. nothing on the site to say they do just the chequer plate, but always worth a call/ email to ask Smile
