First job for me was in the RAF as an aircraft technician, involving numerous different aircraft types including Hercules, Tornado, Harrier, VC10s and finally the newer Hercules variant. Postings overseaes for a total duration of 9 years and travelling all over the World including USA (too many times to remember), Canada, Fiji, Hawaii, Singapore, Bermuda, Malaysia, and Australia to name but a few and all for a duration worthy of mention, not just a stopover.. Perhaps not so shocking after all with the variety on offer that I stuck with it for 32 years perhaps?
In the end the generous pension became the prime driving factor, 'free money just for opening your eyes each morning' immediately payable on leaving. I am fortunate and as such can place 'quality of life' over the 'need to earn' it's just taken me a long time to realise it. I could do with the new job. Irrespective of the outcome I shall be parting ways with my current employer but at my convenience of course. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Not good I'm afraid. Got a call at 9:08 this morning saying the post was 'on hold' and the interview had unfortunately been cancelled!
After further consultation the two people who initially interviewed me have put me forward for another post within the establishment. Not sure where I go from here and neither do the Resource Department at the moment. Having already been for interview not sure if I need another. Awaiting either a call or e-mail. Subsequent post is significantly more money but as I stated 'quality of life' and not financial gain is my primary driving factor. Still actively looking but have moved some of my eggs to a different basket. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
