Link would have been handy.... Whistle

Quick Google on your behalf reveals....

"Later construction with alloy frame and composite panels."

So I would surmise depends on how old it is....

^^^^ Why? Not necessarily. You need to ask the seller as looking at the pictures tells you nowt or go have a look up close if possible to see if it's crossweaved. Thumbs Up

Phenolic board is not made of wood - so nothing to rot its made of woven fabric that's pressure and pressed with phenolic resin under huge pressure, and is nigh on indestructable - attack a bit of ply with and axe it'll go through. with PB it'll bounce off

it never rots, is immune to UV so doesn't breakdown that way either and is resistant to almost all petrochemicals, it's fireproof as well so almost indestructable" If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

That my friend is fibreglass coated marine ply, so yes it is wood with a coat of fibreglass on either side. This is the material of choice for 99.9% of coach builders for body construction, Phenolic Plywood is almost always used for vehicle flooring due to the cost and difficulties when painting. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up You only have one life, live it....forget the cost.

As an apprentice, we used to make all kinds of fire engines from Wisacon, I think its a larch marine ply with a phenolic coating, I can't remember any grp strands when cut, and it took a paint finish really well.

I also made horseboxes out of similar stuff, and there are a huge amount of trucks on the road from the same.

Edges had to be sealed with a grey rubbery paint, & damaged exposed edges will rot.

I think another firm sent a load of fire & rescue trucks to Africa built from a Wisacon type material in the late 70's - apparently the local termite population did a very good job of lightening the construction somewhat!
