Went to the Plains rally as recovery. A couple of jobs to do, including a Mk2 Escort on its roof in a ditch.
On the way home, I heard a knocking noise. Turned out to be lose wheel nuts on the rear wheel. Wheel nuts all torqued up about 4 weeks ago. All re-torqued again today. 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

Underside of rear step which now almost 11 years young and which never received any treatment started to show some surface rust. So off it came, pop rivets out, the thin rust layer sanded away, anti-rust paint, and a few layers of Santorini black gloss. New pop rivets and reinstalled. Better than new. Same time the checker plate panel on the rear door was also resprayed Santorini to match the rest of the truck.

I had to move my 2.7 ton mini digger first time I have towed it but the 110 was great considering it was at its max towing weight. Don’t think everyone following me were as happy though
