Thanks for the pics but I wondered if these were fitted on the DC and if so, where?

They are on mine. They are level with the canopy openings at the back.
They may not be on the new versions that have zip canopies! I can take a pic in the morning if you want? 2006 Defender Double Cab- Zambezi Silver |

So what do the side ropes tie off to? They are only pop riveted on - took off the plastic blanking cowls yesterday and was disappointed to see they hadn't even used a washer to spread the load a bit. If you wiggle the cleat there's quite a point loading at the fixing point. Will be drilling mine out and replacing with some small bolts and appropriate penny washers or spreader plate. Ropes were tied off around hooked strap which I suspected wasn't right

So was your's a conversion to a DCPU rather than leaving the factory as one?

Definitely a factory DC, had it checked on LR mainframe prior to purchase. I suspect hoods are put on at dealership as part of PDI and the cleats were possibly forgotten at the factory Bought some cleats today to match yours at great expense- genuine parts £5.60 for the pair

I think it's the 7th digit/character of the VIN - it should be an "F". Not thought about DCPUs leaving factory with hood not fitted but can see the logic if that is the case. |
