Wales 2010 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 USW Santorini Black
Wheel spacers
I think I am going to go down the wheel spacer route to help with the steering lock reversing the tin tent,
What are the pros and cons if any? What size is recommended? Which brand? Any pictures of before and after would be nice

I went for these ones;

Very good quality and have the locating ridge to for the wheel. They also have the cut out for the hub bolts to fit and come complete with nuts (in fact too many nuts, so have some spare).

Some people will say it puts excess wear on the bearings/cv, however, there's little difference to running a bigger offset wheel.

I got them as when I fitted my Cooper STT's they rubbed on turn so needed to space them out.

When you do fit them, just make sure you use Loctite on the nuts.

Not got any before pics with these tyres on, but here's one showing how nice they fill the arches with 265's

Exactly correct. Standard Land Rover Defender alloys are +33mm offset. 30mm spacers make that +3mm. 0mm offset modular wheels are clearly no different in the forces applied to the hub and therefore bearings. However, spacers do effectively double the number of nuts holding the wheels to the hub and you should routinely check spacer nuts for tightness as you should wheel nuts and given where they are (behind the wheels) that's a pain. I have spacers on my Defender and for some unknown reason one needs attention on a bi-monthly basis.

Wheel Spacers and Turning Circle
Hi Guys

I have installed wheel spacers on my 110 SWU and correct me if I am wrong, but it seems to have reduced my turning circle? I understood it that spacers would increase turning circle not reduce it?

Can any member shed light on there experience regarding fitting spacers.

Fitting wheel spacers should reduce the turning circle as when fitted you can adjust the steering stops on the swivels to give you a better lock.
