Bit of Help with Radio Removal
Hello!

So after putting up with my lovely factory stereo for the last year and a half I figured it was time for a change. I've managed to get the radio out of the dash, however I've run into a problem actually removing the cabling from the back of the unit. Just can't figure out how it's done.

I've attached some photos below of what I'm up against. Anyone know how I can do it??

I have seen many plugs like that.

You stick the screwdriver in like as pictured and it slides up (this is a locking mechanism) - it looks like you have already done this?

Then you just prise the plug off the pinss- this will probably be stiff if it has been on for a while.

The clue is in the picture on top of the wiring block. You prize the top up with a screwdriver, it's quite tight and must be lifted fully up before the block can be pulled away from the stereo. You will probably need a wiring adaptor if your putting a new stereo in too.

Beaten too it by glyn Thumbs Up the locking mech does need to be pulled up further than you have it in your pic.

See here's where I'm getting stuck. The locking mechanism doesn't raise up any higher. One side is on two tracks with a pin/dowel of sorts that prevent it being lifted any higher. (can sort of be seen in the second photo)

I've tried to pull the plug from the socket but it's not moving at all. Clipping wires and creating a switch is far beyond what I can do so still trying to avoid that.

If you prize up the locking tab and wiggle the wiring block at the same time it will come off, a bit of brute force helps Thumbs Up

Turns out the trick was indeed brute force. Thanks for that. Now to find the right harness adaptor to make everything work.

If you go into halfords they have a book with the codes in matched to the car so it's easy to find the right one.
