I've been using 'Gas Cubby' for all of our cars, here are the stats for my 1999 Td5 90 SW (named Albus). I do as many miles off road as on road (probably more off road in truth). The low points are fill ups after mostly off road, the highs are after mostly on road. Good job it's my toy eh!

A computer crash meant I lost a lot of data including m.p.g. for my “fleet” (four petrol soon to be joined by a 2½-litre Daimler V8 and a Defender 2.4), trying to de-clutter and un-sadden my life by not bothering to carry on with such trivia.

BUT, I’d already established to my satisfaction that the savings made by buying supermarket fuel are offset by its poorer fuel consumption. And Super Duper Maxi fuels don’t make the slightest bit of difference and nor does 2SO in your diesel - it’s all in the mind!

I use regular Shell or BP but I don’t lose any sleep if I have to fill up with supermarket stuff, and refuelling a Morgan with rubbish from a dodgy garage in the French Alps didn’t cause the engine to blow up.

But filling with BP Ultimate or V-Power and an Italian tune-up prior to an MOT definitely reduces emissions for petrol engines, can’t say for diesel.

In fairness, I don't think 2SO has ever been touted as an aid to fuel economy. Its' benefit is more to do with lubrication and engine longevity. Darren

All clever stuff, but also a harsh reminder about where your hard earned goes! Big Cry Big Cry

Based on the results here, its not something I'll be planning on doing either. Think it's less painful banging your head against the wall. Thumbs Up
