Coolant leak..
Hi, been topping up the coolant for couple weeks, not much to warrant panic.
Climbed under her this morning to change the reverse light switch & noticed red coolant on passenger side of sump..
Opened bonnet & under turbo there was the coolant pooling..
I couldn't see where its coming from, looks like i'll have to take off the manifold to see it, any idea's where they leak in this area..

Cheers, Jason Getting there, slowly..

Sounds about right, can't really see where its coming from, i haven't got any normal head gasket signs.
She's fine apart from the topping up of water every now & then..

Under the turbo is the oil cooler, which has a pipe coming off it for the heater, that could be weeping, or the oil cooler housing gasket where it bolts onto the block.

Drain the coolant, turbo & manifold off (easier to leave the turbo bolted to the manifold, just undo the oil feed and drain pipes, careful as there's a gasket on the drain pipe and 2 copper O rings on the top feed)

then you need to take the centrifugal filter off (3x 10mm bolts) then the main oil filter housing (3x 10mm bolts) then you can get to the cooler itself (which is about 6 or so 10mm bolts), all easy. a couple of tin gaskets for the centrifugal filter and main cooler that should be replaced.

Although if you're looking to see if that heater pipe is leaking, just take the turbo heat shield off.

To see if the cooler is leaking, with the turbo heat shield off as well, with a torch you can see behind the turbo.

There is a core plug/big screw in thing, in the side of the head, and these often leak. They don't show it as it dries with the heat of the exhaust, but it gets blown to the back of the engine by the fan, and tracks along the head gasket, giving you worrying wallet twitches.

Will try to find picture.

Cheers Andy, looking at your pic its not far off there, it pooling on the flat toward the bellhousing.
Looks like i'm gonna have to take the manifold off anyway to sort it.
Luckily its not leaking that bad, so it can wait til next weekend.
