Glyn, isn't it still a hotspot, and don't you need permission to enter the area? Wouldn't mind visiting the place myself, I will put it on the todo list for when it is not as hot. Thumbs Up

It is still a hotspot but you can now get guided tours of the town/city:

http://tour2chernobyl.com/

It does have a lot of restrictions though to make sure you aren't at risk..... I really want to do it but it is WAY off the course of the rest of the trip. Also, at the moment it is very 'untouched' and the true feeling will be felt there- very ghostly and eery which is something that will disappear over the years as it becomes more commercialised... or even worse, something happens to someone and it gets shut down again.

Wow, all sounds great. Would love do Switzerland in a Series 1 Thumbs Up

Well, as we've only been in the house for a year, there's still a few things we need...windows and dining furniture. So we decided to give Iceland a swerve for another year Crying or Very sad

As well as the usual VW shows at Santa Pod and various Land Rover shows. We will be doing a lot of weekends camping near the coast, so we can go play in the sea.

We will be doing loads of laning trips, picnics, kiting, biking and kayaking. Nurburg as well again.

Also we are going to drive down to the south of France to get some sun, as last year really was epically wet !

We often overnight at Chester Fairoaks CC site on our way to Malvern or The Lakes. Its a lovely little site and exactly 2 hours from the ferry at Holyhead. Very handy.

Probably going to take the Alfa down to Monza via the Stelvio Pass to tick that one off the list. Other than that, expecting the chaps in Solihull to have my truck ready by the end of March/early April, so might have to start exploring some lanes.

Quebec in 2 weeks time for the winter festival - that's a 40th birthday present for SWMBO Smile . Later in the year (July) taking the Defender through the Alps. In addition there'll hopefully be some uk camping trips as well.

If you have driven it and got a nuvi you will know what I mean Laughing

The Stelvio will be a Toll road from this year on. Think it will be 5 euros per car. Free on a bush bike. That fairground wheel in Chenobyl. How any times have I had a fire fight with Russian nationalists at that place while waiting for a Helivac? (anyone who plays COD will know it well) Laughing

Good to know - think I can probably stretch to €5 though Thumbs Up. Especially as the trip down through France and back last year ran to about £160 in tolls Shocked 2013 Defender 110 XS DCPU

- Off to watch the Paris-Roubaix in April
