Lol, they are like marmite, but are actually useful as a puddle light, surprisingly bright. Remember they are only 2 wires so maybe people could think of another clever use for them somewhere on a defender?!

I have a secondary alarm on my vehicle so just wired the live into this behind the clocks the passenger side will require the wires to be extended if you can't find a live over that side of the vehicle. They are very low current with small wires so can safely tap into any live feeds nearby. Simple but very effective they were better quality than I was expecting! 2001 TD5 110 County Station Wagon - sold

I will do Matt took a couple of pics last night of them they are a tight fit in my 2001 doors but do go. The actual housing is about 23mm in diameter. Mine were a nice tight fit so you dont have to use the retaining nuts that come with them but could use a little sikaflex to seal bond the units in. Will get the pics off my phone when I get in. 2001 TD5 110 County Station Wagon - sold

Right heres some pics of them fitted, sorry about the quality they were close ups with a phone camera and i was shivering because it was so bloody cold when i fitted them!
Vehicle in pics is a 2001 TD5 Basically the units are around 26mm with the lip at the lens however they require a 23mm hole for the body of the light to fit into (This hole saw is included and seems pretty good quality) just dont drill to fast as it melts the tips of the saw. I trimmed a small section out of the bottom door rubber and then drilled through the bottom section of frame then you need to slide the drill/hole saw out in your drill to get the depth to drill through the top section of frame. Obviously paint where your holes are and i took opportiunity to wax oil inside door frame, then push the light unit through. They come with securing nuts but these would require the top holes to be slightly bigger so you can drop the nut in the frame and twist the light to tighten, however with the thread and the fact i made nice clean holes my lights were a really tight fit and when finally fitting them i ran some sikaflex around lip and then finished off with a bead around the top of the light unit to just seal off and make it look smart. Just remember to make sure your window is fully down and unit will clear it and wires are going to need to be extended to follow all existing looms of car then earth onto your door pin switch and permanent live. I didnt find them hard to fit just a little time consuming to get it looking nice and neat as it would have left the factory just take your time, i used a hole in the door frame which was already there from factory and just enlarged that when i did mine. ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated ![]() 1970 Series 2A Station Wagon 1970 Series 2A hard top 1960 Series 2 1972 Series 3 |
