Ray, looking good.

On the seals, I just put on some HD flanges and have noticed some oil around the hub and splashed on the wheel. Just one side, all clearly coming from the area of the flange cap, but do you think this is what it could be? Is it a DIY job? Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

Hi, I’d check if there’s just oil on the flange side, I have hd flanges on already and was hoping that was the problem. Unfortunately I took the wheel off and it’s coming out at the axel end, with lots of oil on the back of the disc working it’s way to the front via the calliper Big Cry I’ve cleaned it all off with brake cleaner and parked it up till it goes in on Friday for both sides Axle seals doing just in case. Thumbs Up If yours is just on the flange side then you might not have tightened the nut on the new flange up enough (when I first got mine on I didn’t tighten one of mine enough and the nut escaped through the centre cap at some unknown time while driving Big Cry and it took a while to find a replacement) your best getting it checked sooner than later as oil on the brakes is not good especially in the hills you live in. If oil is just around the flange you could fit a new gasket as well just to be safe which IMO is a diy job, just a few bolts. Ray

As I haven’t been driving her this week waiting to go into the garage I thought I’d tidy a few things up I’d been meaning to do. I gave It a wash, put the trim back in from fitting the new scenelight, cleaned up the oil from the leaking axle and striped some old wires out that I’d run to the back.......... all was going well I thought until I had to drop the kids off at school today before dropping the car off at the garage for the work doing. That feels odd I thought as the brake pedal went to the floor Shocked unfortunately I was half way around the trip when this happened so no leaving it at home to sort later. My first thought was that the fluid at the back must be brake fluid from a split pipe and not the axle seal I thought it was, so pull over and get one of the kids to pump the pedal, nothing squirting out at the axle end Question then I noticed dripping from underneath the drivers door area!!! I’d only gohe and cut through my own brake line while cutting the cable ties for the wires I’d stripped out Embarassed it was a very slow drive to the garage and a lot of blushing as I explained. Ray

I wired up my aftermarket heated seat loom to the genuine switches in the dash today. I kept switching the aftermarket switches on and not noticing till I was getting very hot in the nice weather we had a few weeks back, so now I switch them on with the genuine dash switches (which will be much harder to knock accidentally) and the aftermarket switches are used to switch between the heat settings. No more hot seat for me unless it’s cold outside Mr. Green This week I’ve been continuing the prep and painting of the chassis too when it hasn’t been raining, but that may have to be put on hold for a while as the forecast doesn’t look good Big Cry

Edit: I also got it back from the garage with working brakes Embarassed and no more leaks from the rear axle! That was an expensive mistake!! Ray

A bit more turned up. New metal a bar top mounts (instead of the rubbish plastic Landrover ones) just in case I decide to fit the a bar. Service items as it’s getting to that time of year again and bulkhead hinge bracket gaskets and fitting kit for when the windscreen surround gets painted.

Also new screen to go in when the paint is done because I can still see the repaired stone chip and it annoys me Whistle

It took ages to do with all the fiddly nooks and crannies to sand and clean and I still have the other side to do Big Cry but I’m getting close to the finish now. Ray
