I’d swop the stand for a screw jack - with ribs on the shaft - far safer and easier to hitch up.

I can't see that the military bumper wouldn't be strong enough for shunting a trailer. You can push a couple of tons of trailer single handed on flat hard ground, I doubt you could bend a military bumper by hand.
For the ultimate in HD front bumpers with shunting ability, this is probably the one to go for. https://www.firstfour.co.uk/defender-heavy...ocket.html You can have a drop plate and slot it in for moving caravans or what ever, another with a Nato hitch and another with a shackle on it for recoveries if you need it. |

I like that - 5mm steel plus one of these and a NATO hitch would be perfect. |

and if you fit a 2" receiver on the back you can just swap it from front to rear plus you can remove the towbar if you want to do more extreme off roading.

even the issued bumper is quite thin, 3.5mm from memory. i got a copy made in 5mm from dixon fabrication and fitted rotating shackles to the front face. 110 Defender 300tdi & Penman trailer with ally exped top and roof tent |

the towing eye on a sankey mkIII trailer will not fit into a mil bumper centre recovery slot (which is intended only for straight bar road towing) I have an adapter made by a friend which i use for shunting my sankey trailer 110 Defender 300tdi & Penman trailer with ally exped top and roof tent |
