Hi,
Yesterday the TC, ABS and handbrake Lights started coming on after driving for a short while. Mostly on gravel roads...(Takes longer to come on when on Tar roads) Sounds like 3 Amigos but that is not something that appear to happen to Defenders. Anyone had a similar issue on Defenders? Also got a short somewhere on a Right indicator that is blowing fuses but struggling to find it and not sure if it can be related... First thing i think i should do is get my Landy on a computer. Check the level of brake fluid, the indicator for low level is the handbrake light. As for the ABS/TC light, check and clean ABS sensors? -- 2010 Defender Puma 90 + BAS remap + Alive IC + Slickshift + Ashcroft ATB rear 2015 Range Rover Sport V8 Supercharged

Is it hard to clean the abs sensors?

Might be an idea to check your earths. I was having the same- could drive about town with no problems, and then hit a bump and the lights would come on. This also messed about with my lights.
Dealser had forgot to tighten the earth on the chassis. Glyn   |

Climb under the truck at the front passenger door. You will se the battery cable leaving the seat box. It then passes through what looks like p-clip but this is in fact an earth point so check the nut. It then goes on to the gearbox bell-housing where there is another nut- again check that one. That was the problem with mine. Glyn |

I have just had similar on my truck although it's a TD5 I believe a few of the wires are the same.
I checked the wire from the Battery - Chassis - Gearbox and the Chassis - Bulkhead with no luck and then found the fault, behind the header tank there is a grey multiplug with around 8 earth's going into it and a cable coming out and connecting to the bulkhead. This plug supplies earth's for the ABS Unit, Dash, Heater, Hand Brake Sensor and some other key bits, my was not earthed correctly and causing all sorts of issues. Jason. |

I had almost the same symptoms as yourself nearly three years ago. It could be related to your blowing fuse as well as two of my looms (one being the TC/ABS) were chafing together! The following thread may be of interest perhaps? Good luck and let us know how you get on.....

Ok, the Earth from the battery is properly grounded on 2 spots.
There is another cable that is loose. Looks like a earth cable. Them bottom is tightened on the chassis but not sure there the top must go. Was tucked in behind the one air-intake.

There is a Technical Service Bulletin on TOPIx that covers just what you have said. It’s LTB00078v2/2007. The thing to check is the earth connecter behind the brake servo (or that’s the way I read it). You might find the link by searching.

Ok, had it on the computer today.
Had a ground reference error on it. Checked the grounds and all seems fine. Lights came on again and the computer had a ground error again. Also had a error basically saying i must clean the one sensor and that error is gone now after it was cleaned. Going back on Saturday to try and sort the ground issue out. The short on my indicators at least was sorted. Found the fault on the back indicator wire. Thanks Any other suggestions on where i can look for earth wires would be great. They say the image above is not a standard Landy Ground. They say it must be a after market accessory's cable. Still trying to get info for the service Bulletin. Regards http://banddc.blogspot.com/ |

Hi, been at my local Landy specialist and so far still no solution.
What we found out now is that it is only if the TC on the back wheels is triggered. On the front wheels no issue. Sensors been cleaned ad connectors between front and back has been checked. Going back on Wednesday try clean something on the back wheels (Not sure what it is called.) and then hope that it fixes 3 lights issue Also going to do a bearing service while it is there. Little play(3mm) on one of the back wheels. Anyone had a issue like this before? Thanks http://banddc.blogspot.com/ |

Hi,
Issue resolved... Before i took at back to the dealers i took a hosepipe and sprayed of the back wheels. There was some mud left on there. That took case of the handbrake light. Then after the workshop did my bearings and cleaned my (Think you call it a magnito) the other 2 lights went off. Thanks for all the help http://banddc.blogspot.com/ |
