These 80/100 bulbs, is it ok with std wiring or do I need to rewire with a relay?

The light switch already often melts with the standard 55/60W H4's, so imagine 80/100W Shocked

80/100W H4 in main headlamps, with relay or not, they will be not road legal You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Maybe not road legal in Switzerland but UK Vehicle Lighting Regulations states

Quote:

8. Wattage–

(a) A motor vehicle, other than a solo motor bicycle or motor bicycle combination, first used on or after 1st April 1986:

No requirement

(b) A motor vehicle, other than a solo motor bicycle or a motor bicycle combination, first used before 1st April 1986:

30 watts minimum

(c) A solo motor bicycle and a motor bicycle combination–
(i)having an engine not exceeding 250 cc: 15 watts minimum
(ii)having an engine exceeding 250 cc: 30 watts minimum

9. Intensity:

No requirement

Personally I think there should be requirements with a minimum and maximum light output as wattage has nothing to do with light output but is a measure of electrical power consumed!
