Door hinge bolts
Hello,

I like to potter around the car and do good things to it, one thing I intend to do is take out all the door hinge bolts and lube the threads so I can get them out easily in years time. I've done the back door and spare holder which is why I thought I'd ask this question before doing the rest.

Are the nuts on the door bolts captive or will they fall down into the trim on a 2011 110? Can I just unscrew the bolts, lube them up then return them? When doing the spare wheel holder the bolt just went loose, had to remove the door trim to finish it off. That's no problem but I'd like notice if I have to do all that for the doors.

Thanks
Andy.

its worth buying some stainless then copper slip them and replace the originals Thumbs Up but on your standard door hinge the 2 front door hinges- the bolts going into the bulkhead are captive but the ones going into the door are held on with normal nuts on the back you can get away with not taking the door card off, spanner with tape is a good trick to get the nut back on as it can be fiddly with out taking the door card off Thumbs Up CSK Automotive

Thanks for the reply, I've had a look for stainless bolt kits and they seem reasonable enough so I might as well change them over, it'll be the first change I've made! I'm guessing if I do it one bolt at a time everything will stay in it's right place and not move?

The only stainless bolt kits that I am aware of which has the original Land Rover heads are the Nakatanenga ones. They also come with a tube of anti corrosion paste.

try and get some nice ones as Brendan just said nakatanenga sell them, britpart ones have horrid heads for the rear door hinges, the only ones i would buy from britpart are the front door hinges, mid row if you have a 110, bonnet hinge bolts are good from them, bumper kit is good and so are the grill and light screws, stay clear of the rear xmember bolt kit from them as they look horrid Thumbs Up CSK Automotive

Thanks Brendan,

Can you do me a quote for the Nakatanenga boor bolt set and another for the various other bolts around the car that need changing, bumper, cross member and any others you'd advise changing (2011 110xs).

Thanks
Andy.

If you are replacing the door bolts with Stainless it is well worth fitting some that require a different tool to remove than the standard Land Rover ones from a security point of view IMHO

Hopefully will have some stainless bolt kits including original heads with us at Peterborough.

Knowing one of the methods of stealing the doors different headed screws would not help.
