I too have driven land rovers for some time, series, 101 3.5v8, 2.5 diesel, 300tdi, td5 and now a 2.2tdci. I think its pretty good, yes I would still like a 3.2tdci but I would not go back to any of the other Land Rover engines.

Thank goodness for that! Was starting to think I'd made a massive mistake and was wondering how to get out of the deal!

still confused ?
ok , im still having problems with the engine running and management of my 2.2 . Some people are saying that its old news and has been done , others say its still a while away . Yes there are part time plug ins , but has the full time remap of the ecu been achieved yet ? My calls to a well known engineering company tell me that its still not been cracked .

Hi Keith. No the real remap is not publicly available yet. As you say plug in boxes are but not real remaps.

IRB and my self at BAS hope to have our hybrid turbo back and on sale shortly after I get back from my holiday.

If looking at plug in boxes....

I'd be asking questions about effects oil dilution, the effects on the DPF cleaning cycle, if the extra fuelling is added to all fuel injection pulses?

Does the plug in box look at the DPF (if not, the DPF will get blocked very quickly, and if extra fuel added during a cleaning cycle the DPF will get VERY hot), fault code logs, altitude levels etc etc.

I know boxes have got better, but they have always been a bodge method of tuning....

My plug in box when Ian (IRB) took it apart was just a couple of resistors for your £200 or more Shocked I would never use another when you compare it to a proper remap.

Yes, that may be correct, but I think the overriding factor is that a proper remap is not available!
No matter how many times the question is asked, none of the so called experts seem able to tell us when a 'proper' remap might be available.
Why is the ability to provide a remap proving to be so difficult? Are we saying that Landrover themselves are unable to remap these ecu's? If they are able to, why is it proving so hard for independents to remap?
Do they lock the landrover engineers in the factory at Solihull overnight or something?

Great posting , , i couldnt agree more . Theres some geeky boffin sitting in his wee chalet high in the swiss mountains , writing the mapping codes for this 2.2 . Why are we all not getting a hold of this individual and sourceing his secret codes .?
