Grab it at the 9 and 3 o'clock positions and wiggle it whilst pulling. then move to 12 and 6 and wiggle again

as jamie says pull harder, and as you have done, keep the nut on there! Cheers

thanks guys, i've wiggled it and pulled in all directions - but obviously not hard enough. I'll have and extra weetabix and try again! Cheers for quick responses.

As has been said loosen the nut to the last couple of threads then make a fist with each hand and bang on opposite sides if the wheel alternately. It will come free and is the best way if you do not have a puller.

In fairness I should add that to an uninformed onlooker it does seem you are having a “Basil Fawlty” moment.

Far from it - my first car was a Morris 1100 which was replaced by an Austin 1300. Great memories - but going back to early 70's. 90 XS

How ever you go about it be careful it doesn't come off and hit you in the face by accident

I used a wheel puller to do mine on the Td5, comes off nice and smooth without any Basil Fawlty action - which is a shame I guess
![]() Got the puller cheap on ebay I think. |

Hi guys, it would not budge now matter how I tried. Have ordered a puller from e-bay, thanks to everyone and TD_90 for the suggestion of looking for a puller. 90 XS
