ring gear pattern
Hi guys and girls
I am doing my first final drive and wanted to have your opinion on the pattern I am having.
Hope the pictures are more or less ok. I think the last 2 images the pattern is best visible (I applied some resistance to the crownwheel while rotating on those 2)

Looks good to me. Very similar to my efforts when I installed Miffy's ATB. Thumbs Up If you want to compare I am pretty certain I posted my patterns in the Miffy Workshop thread.

France 2008 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 CSW Zermatt Silver
It just happened that I very recently changed the rear diff center of my Puma 110 for an Ashcroft ATB (P38 differential housing). I had excessive play between the side and spider gears, making a "clunk" noise in some situations, which was annoying as the rest of the transmission is pretty slack.

The ring and pinion were still good after 130K, so I re-used those, saved me from having to adjust a new pinion height and preload in the housing. So basically, only a new ATB diff center with its new side bearings kindly pressed in by Ashcroft before shipping (thank you).
Anyway, after setting the backlash as per the manual, I checked the pattern and although it looked good to my untrained eyes, I was not sure. Having driven the Landy since on all type of roads including motorways, I am satisfied that it is neither howling nor whining. And the "clunk" is gone. Cool

That looks good.
I am also keeping housing , pinion , crownwheel, but my preload with the same shim was wrong
