Diagnostic systems
Could someone advise if the diagnostic system for a 2012 2.2 litre defender is the same as the 2.4 litre 2007 to 2011 models. Just wondering if the hardware/software is the same.
Thanks. Lindsay

The faultmate FCR supports the new 2.2 for read and clear faults.

Thanks Pete, What I really want to know is the software for a 2012 puma with a 2.2 compatable with a 2007 puma with a 2.4 motor. In other words can I use the same diagnostic Nanocom on both vehicles.

At the moment their isnt a tool that has both models in one, soon the nanocom will but at this moment the 2.2 is not added to the firmware for it.

This maybe the problem I have bought a nanocom for my 2.2 and it won't work. They tell me there is something wrong with the OBD plug on the vehicle. I suspect that it wont work on my 2012 2.2 litre.

Lindsay.

Hi

Ill explain a little more as I was a little breif with my previous posts due to not knowing the full situation.

The 2.2 Puma PCM read and clear fault codes will work on the existing nanocom evo though its not officially yet fully supported. The 2.2 pcm structure and process are slightly different in comparison to the 2.4, as an example the 2.2 ecu reports various things differently to the 2.4 like that its sometimes busy with internal calcualtions when we want to read the faults so the nanocom as now may show a fail comms message or simlar.

However, for the moment until the official update to the nanocom is made you can still use the function as if it were a 2.4 which is what the nanocom supports currently but it may take a few attempts to log in and read faults due to the differences between them etc. Once we have finished the full developement we will have an update available for the nanocom that will add the 2.2 protocols and also will give the relevent live data info to match on the inputs pages etc.

This is in developement now and we hope to have something finalised very shortly as a form of an update that will start official supported coverage for the 2.2.

Pete

The software is slightly different, but i.e. our Kiwi PLX works on the 2.2 as for the 2.4. Never forget: cars have owner, Landrover have field service personnel.

10 Grand for Autologic may be too much to spend for the average owner though.
