Thanks. On reading the info and reviews though there's no mention of DAB radio only FM.

no it's not got DAB, but I never listen to the radio so it wasn't an issue

Basically what you need is the 'XS' version of the Landrover head unit - it looks exactly the same as yours but has an aux input socket on the front to plug an iPod or any other device in to. It will also play MP3 format CDs. Look on ebay etc as lots come up when people upgrade - usually about the £50 mark.

Only trouble is with that is although you are right in what your saying of course but there is no HU iPod control so when changing song ect it has to be done by iPod so really it's a case of selecting what you want before setting off and keeping it that way. Not exactly safe to change on route so to speak. Then again if some one wants to keep OE equipment / the look then it's a good alternative. Thumbs Up

Yes I know, but i was basing my comment on the original post which was;

Quote:
The Old Dragon seems to have the standard LR radio and single CD and I'd like to slot-in something with MP3 connection and better sound.

The Defender Accessories brochure doesn't seem to show any other options, nor do Duckworth Parts on their excellent site.

I'd like to keep a LR-branded unit if possible. Any suggestions chaps?

No mention of an iPod at all, let alone remote control of one.

For iPod connection and decent integration get a Parrot Asteroid Thumbs Up John

My 'pennethworth'......I have a Parrot Astetroid and so does BPman, personally if I was 'in the market' for a new head unit I would buy another Parrot Asteroid tomorrow. Does everything I want it to do and more, also pound for pound it is good value.

I have a parrot astroid fitted, I think it's great and would def put it my next one. I have put a small pioneer sub which adds a little depth. Now looking at upgrading the speakers but not sure which ones.

kona (with a small 'k') Thumbs Up ,

Read the previous post.... Thud the same unit as me.

Rob have you considered fitting one of these?...(taken from an old thread....It does indeed fit nicely behind the head unit).

Alpine Slimline Amp...As the Asteroid has no CD drive and is subsequently not as deep as conventional units am hoping to fit the amp behind the head unit if there's enough room..'Should be' I'm told.

Sorry.... I was under the impression the Parrot was a stand alone unit. Very confused now silly me shall have to look it up Thud

Ah now I see. For some random reason I thought it was not a HU but separate unit like say a Sat Nav. No idea where I got that idea from Confused _\Hennessey|Venom| F5/___

I've been considering the focal to. I have seen ken is a big fan. But which ones to go for. Think I would stick to a budget of £100 because the wife wants new conservatory furniture. It's serious as she has taken the old stuff to charity shop.

The Parrott is a standalone unit but just fancy better sound than the standard speakers provide.
