2012 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 HT Sumatra Black
My insect eating vehicle.
I have the guard and side steps on now so i thought i would post a pic or two after i spent all day polishing and waxing, but on the way out of town i destroyed several colonies of flying things.

None the less from a distance their smashed bodies are barely noticeable.

Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Very nice! Like mine, but shinier Smile

I'm thinking about getting steps like that for the side of mine, after catching someone opening their door into mine in a car park Evil or Very Mad

I have been parking at far end of car park bays since getting it.
Trying to avoid the inevitable, black too, so the marks will no doubt show.

I plan to enjoy it while it still looks new.Smile

Side rails came from Paddocks, £105+VAT i think, just a few bolts to fit.

Thats cheaper than I thought for the side rails... Hmmm... Big Black is three years old next month, might get it a birthday treat.........

Normally if I'm parking it up for the day at work I'll either park it out of the way, next to expensive cars, or park it between two cars that I know won't be moving all day. Only last week the car park was rammed, so had to park on a supermarket car park. I tried to park it as far away from all the shoppers cars, but so I could still see it from the office. On one of my many visits to the window I saw an old couple park their Fiat Doblo box thing next to it, then the drivers door thwack into the side of mine. I had a minor moment of rage, but the damage wasn't as bad as I thought - they must have opened it into the side step which took the brunt of the hit.

Does my head in how people don't seem to have any sort of respect for other peoples cars. Even if I park next to a banger I'll always be careful not to open my door into it...

...and a NAS tow step for the rear, then park nose into the bay Thumbs Up.

On a serious note my tow step was 'mated' by a eurobox last week, which after being removed went away on a towtruck.... all I had to repair/replace was my towball cover!! Laughing
A small price to pay to prevent my rear X-member from taking the hit

I should have said the eurobox was parking behind my stationary 90 on a hill, so it was a fairly slow speed impact... just the wrong height for towball to go through their grill Rolling Eyes

Those NAS rear steps do look the business, i am not sure i need one atm though as the tow bar i have is adjustable and suits me, that said if i had a few quid i would be tempted next year. Smile

The cleaning stuff was the Meguiars 1-2-3 kit, with their Gold Shampoo first.
I didnt use the "1" paint cleaner as it is new.
I just shampoo'd it, "2" polished it with a "3" double waxing for good measure.
The "2" polish seems to remove hair line scratches i found two little ones that just buffed out.
I didnt think there was a cutting agent in it so i will read more on it before using it again.
I got some Auto-Glym Gel for the exterior trim and the Meguiars endurance Tyre treatment to tidy it all up.
There is a jar of rim wax there too i have yet to get around to using.
My neck got burnt yesterday so i thought i would quit before sunstroke set in. lol.

They do a higher carnauba wax content bottle which it about twice the price, i might try it one day but tbh i am happy with what i got from their cheaper one.

Hi K90,
Yes they sit fairly close in, not really strong like treesliders might be but fat enough to be useful as a step and a sort of guard.

Hi Warren,
They are not those ones, they are very like LRs own type, they have a flat top and seem well made but i liked the longer tube style:

They bolt on really easily, just needed a socket set and a mat to lie on.
Holes are already in the chassis, i just added a couple of extra nylon washers so as not to touch the paint. Smile

I did consider looking for ones with powder coated black chequer plate to match the sill guards but a little bit of silver looks ok i think, what with the wheels and all.

Whoops... might have accidentally ordered a pair yesterday whilst ordering some sidelight bulbs.....

Should be here today, trying to think of excuses as to why the delivery from Paddocks will be so big when all I ordered were bulbs....... Whistle
