I've got an Ashcroft R380 box in my TD5 Ninety.
There's very little difference from the original. ![]() |

IMHO I don´t think there will be an additive solution for the crunch, I once read that that the defender has a hesitation gearbox, that means you have to hesitate for a fraction before each gear.
All additives reduce friction and by reducing it you will make the synchro slip instead of transmiting speed to the shaft. Perhaps ceramic additive could build something that help, but not sure of that since they are load with antifriction. BTW the liqui moly ceratec says in the bottel that it is for transmissions and engines. Augusto Defender 110 TD5 2001 Discovery 4 TDV6 |

Boy
Cluncky 1st to 2nd gear changes. I had the same problem so checked my prop shaft s. Found the bolts loose front end of the rear shaft. This did improve the clunking but yesterday with only a week left on my warrenty decided to get it checked out. Hunters of Norwich found one of my rear half shafts worn so changed it. The gear changes are really smooth now. Any help?
Interesting to learn that CLONK and CRUNCH are related. Augusto Defender 110 TD5 2001 Discovery 4 TDV6 |

I did have clonking but a new drive flange under warrantee sorted (well made it a little beter) that but did not make a difference to the crunching.
My 07 110 was the same but now this is running so well with the cat removed that the crunching has move up in priority. Boy |
