Serpentine belt adjustment....
How does the serpentine belt adjust?

Mine is squealing loudly when the aircon is working. Its not long since been replaced by the previous owner, so I want to check the tension. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

You don't adjust it as such. There is a tensioner pulley (bottom left of the engine as you look at it from the front) which maintains a steady pressure on the belt. Essentially it's a pulley mounted on an arm with a powerful spring behind it.

You can "force" the tensioner into the belt, and this keeps tighter than just releasing the adjuster. Trick I learnt from land over tech Thumbs Up
