Is there a way to change the time the interior lights stays on after I opened the backdoor?
I have a 2009 Defender Puma, and just a few seconds after opening my backdoor the interior lights already goes out, very annoying Sad
The next thing I have to do then is to also open a front door as the interior lights stays on a little bit longer....

Mine was doing that. You'll probably find the wire is broken to the pin switch or the earthing screw needs cleaning, then the light should stay on as long as the open door makes it stay on

But if the cable was broken there would be no earth signal at all, the alarm ECU would not know that the tail door was opened, and the interior light wouldn't work at all...............?
Resistance in the earth could be the cause, as the alarm ECU thinks the tail door was closed again as the resistance is too much.
So I'll try to give it a good earth connection with a bypass cable and see what happens.

What is important for me, the time the interior light stays on should be the same whether you open the tail door
or one of the front doors?

Thanks for your advice, Harald

I have exactly the same fault as the OP on my 50th and I've checked all the door switches, position of light switch etc.

I'm sure the problem lays with the alarm ECU, CarlW's suggestion is an interesting one, ill give that a go next

Harald, Off Topic first of all welcome to Defender2.net. You are the first and only one which has a FIRE edition that I have seen on here, (don't kill me if I have missed someone Embarassed ), but some time please post some pictures of your FIRE edition, as frankly I occasionally do see ICE editions around here and in France, but never a FIRE. Lovely color I think from what I have seen on the net Thumbs Up . Sorry again for going Off Topic You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

If you get out of the drivers door before you open the rear door the light will still be on from the front door opening, then seem to turn off quickly when you open the rear. But if it goes off quickly from just opening the rear door them it probably is an ecu fault.
