Dan, may I suggest you take your vehicle back to the firm who supplied the tyres and asked for their opinion.

With the rubber nibs still on the tyre to me they suggest tyres are young/not done many miles.

What pressures are you running? What does the centre of the tread look like? It may be that your pressures are too low, so the tyre is running on the edges.

Dan A, looks like cracking to me ......they should not be looking like that if you have only had them a short while ?
looks like the compound of the rubber is braking up..... take them back and ask your supplier to investigate the problem with BFG Thumbs Up NEVER TAKE LIFE SERIOUSLY. NOBODY GETS OUT ALIVE ANYWAY

Looks like heat degredation by tyres doing hard work. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

If I remember rightly the Defender owners manual say's 32 psi front and 38 psi rear. That's what mine are anyway

Do you use a hot water wash to clean the vehicle (very long shot though)

Good quality truck tyres with 15-18mm drive pattern do this when nearly new due to the tread flexing when scrubbing but then they settle down. I think BFG have softened the compound now to comply with US noise regulations and i don't think you have a fault but just good tyres doing thier job which looks like hard cornering. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

Mine were like that although they were a lot older and had done a lot more miles. Strange it's only on one side of the vehicle though.
