Steering damper?
How do you know you need a new one? For me the slightest bit of wheel vibration translates into noticeable steering wheel shake at speed. I'm changing my Tyres soon and want things right.

Also can you point me to a steering damper that is a popular choice?

I would suggest OE or Terrafirma. Are you sure the vibration isn't caused by your wheels being un-balanced or out of alignment?

Point taken.....I'm going to fit the bf goodridges, balance and track it and see. I just feel there's a lot of undampened play in the steering. Current...07 90 Puma commercial

Good choice! I would see what it's like once you have them fitted and balanced ect. And if your still not happy with it try a new steering damper. Perhaps this: http://www.devon4x4.com/index.php?page=sho...;Itemid=14 Or this maybe: http://www.devon4x4.com/index.php?page=sho...;Itemid=14

Best steering damper is an OME, but as long as it offers equal resistance in extension and compression, it is ok. If you have a vibration and changing the damper stops it, you are just hiding the problem that still exists. It will probably be unbalanced wheels, pan hard rod bushes, or swivel preload.

Just my opinion, though.

I had similare and was just living with it, then had a leak on the seal to the ball joint that needed things ajusting (don't know what Embarassed ) and the vibration that always hapened on a regulare route stoped, for a bit at least,

no real facts I know but may be worth a look
