Seems the below LED unit from Perei would be a direct replacement for the standard bulb fitted number plate units on our Defenders.
Perei are the manufacturers of other lights on certain Defender models and the quality of those is outstanding. So if the below unit would indeed be a direct replacement, probably our best bet, beating anything Chinese by arms length.
Can any of the site sponsors confirm that this is a direct replacement, that it is indeed superior quality, and are they already offering this unit or can they do so? I checked a few sponsor websites and did not find them.
The unit type is Perei NPL2BLED. You can click the datasheet and ECE certificates link, and can see all measurements there which seem to be identical to the standard bulb type units.

England 2005 Defender 90 Td5 XS CSW Java Black
Well I did it and bought one of the perei ones direct replacement just have to modify the the cable hole entry through the spacing block solder the wires and there we go fully 'E' marked led number plate lamp hopefully it will last longer than the BoB's one I had ! And it cost £10.80 plus vat!

I got it from a local Hgv factors as these buy lamps from perei it took a while to come as I ordered it on there stock order

I have ordered LH & RH SVX driving lamps which will be here tomorrow hopefully. We will then look at how to mount a 90mm lamp or maybe even make a new one!!

Good, my Defender has to go back to the dealer in a few weeks time and they will have to dismantle the entire front to repair/replace one of the headlamp electric levelling units which stopped working. So they can then also install those LED aux lamps provided they pass your tests....

One question about those, will they be the pencil beam type or the driving light beam type? By that I mean the driving beam type should be a bit more spread out light than the first mentioned. I think that driving beam would be preferable, because I believe the Speaker high beam is fairly pencil type, yes? Not really 100% sure abt that as they light up together with the H7 aux lamps now, but I have that impression. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.
