thinking of changing my daily drive ...
I'm thinking of changing my Fiesta 1.6tdci (60 plate) for something bigger

BMW 1 or 3 series (20d) or Audi A3 (1.9 or 2.0d)

Needs to do 50+ mpg
Needs 6 speed gear box
Needs 4 or 5 doors

I'd like Bluetooth, cruise

Budget around 10-15k

don't want another golf, ideas ?

38,000 miles, fully stamped service book, the XK 4.2 is a great lump, what you spend on fuel you will save a bit on zero depreciation and mate, cars have to be interesting and fun, might as well walk otherwise!

I have a BMW 123d M Sport 5 door and it puts out more power than a Ford Cosworth and is faster than a GTi Golf and does 50mpg which is roughly double a Gti... can't be beat and it has hardly dropped in value as i bought it when the market was on its knees. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

Hi Steve, Merry Late Christmas and a Great New year with hopefully a new car!
I know that the MPG needs to be in the 40+ range, but if you were to get a 5 series BMW, say in the 1995 range, with the 4.0engine, you can get around 20-25 without a lead foot, plus you can get the whole gang in there, plus it is a brilliant drive! goes like hell and is a blast at speed on the tracks...
you do realize everyone will be giving an opinion right? Thumbs Up 2008 Defender 110 60 year Edition (sold unfortunately)
IN the hunt for another Puma for the wifey!

well a 1 seires BM ain't that much bigger than a fester!

scoda octavia 170 Thumbs Up / passat 170, excellent / vulva a nice drive and quite cheap being a focus...or a focus...great car Thumbs Up

i wanted a 3 series but the specs are crap for the money. a 5 series 530d estates loaded and another great drive although run flats would do me in and they break wheels with ease on these bad roads.

IMO stay away from rep mobiles...aka 3 series and a4's

cheers guys ...

popped into BMW dealer ... ignored. had a 320d estate looked ok

then audi dealer .. A3 s-line 20d again nice ...

had not thought of volvo .. used to have a v50 20d was ok but not very cheap to run ... still looking

- JT Petrol is not an option as I have done 30k since Feb 11
- RD thanks for the info. had not thought of a 123d

seems to be a good time, dealers are quite keen for a cash deal .. something to do with the end of the year awaiting latest offer on a3
