New genuine VDO MAF fitted and it seems to have done the trick instantly. I can now only get a tiny wiff of smoke when I really boot it in a high gear from low revs. Huge improvement.

And you'd need to be sure you can use them with the standard seat belt.
Racing harnesses on a road car are a total nightmare. Especially given the position of the Defender handbrake etc... |

| Also, given that there is no lumbar/recline adjustment and they normally have minimal padding they can prove incredibly uncomfortable on long journeys. I'd try before you buy.... |

I checked the MAP and this was pretty clean (certainly much cleaner than the one on my old D2!). I gave it a spray and wipe out with carb cleaner anyway but it didn't make any differe ... |

One other thing, I've tried with the MAF disconnected and it made no difference (to either the smoke or performance).
Red plug of the ECU is also spotless.... |

Jumped in to go to the shops and have noticed in the wing mirror a fair bit of black smoke coming out the back. Its a 2006 td5 on around 90k miles. Definitely never chipped. Air filter is clean.
